Boys Basketball (3-5): Walpole Boys Basketball had a busy winter break, going 3-1 during the vacation period. Bookended by wins against Natick on December 23 and Bishop Feehan on January 2, the team now looks to build on the momentum in their game on January 6 against Herget rivals Wellesley.
Girls Basketball: Walpole Girls Basketball went 0-2 during Christmas break, losing to Natick on December 23 and to Arlington Catholic on December 30. Senior Captain and Colgate Commit Summer King has 977 points in her Walpole career and is expected to break 1,000 points in the coming week.
Boys Hockey (3-2-2): Walpole Boys Hockey had four games over the winter break, including a thrilling 2-1 victory over Brockton to win the Songin Cup, with goals coming from senior Captain Kevin Quinn and junior Charlie Harrington.
Girls Hockey (1-2-2): Walpole Girls Hockey tied two games over break, including a high scoring 3-3 tie with Natick. Goals were scored by senior Captains Olivia Knight and Lauren Hirshom, and junior Olivia Macmillan.
Girls Track (2-0): At the Boston Holiday Challenge on December 27, the Rebels had two athletes make the podium. Senior Captain Allie Morris placed third overall in the two mile by dropping an 11:30, and freshman Sarah Tierney placed fifth in the freshman mile, lowering her mile time to 5:40. Walpole also secured two medals in the Freshman-Sophomore meet on January 4, with Tierney placing eighth overall in the 1000 meter run and sophomore Emily Martin placing sixth in the mile. They face Wellesley this Thursday night.
Boys Track (2-0): The Rebels had more athletes inch closer to qualifying for Divisionals in both the Boston Holiday Challenge and the Freshman-Sophomore meet. Junior Eamon McCarthy (1:30), sophomore Jack Kennefick (1:31) and senior Captain Ryan Nordstrom (1:32) all bested their previous times in the 600 meter dash and are all on the verge of running the needed qualifying time of 1:28. They face Wellesley this Thursday night.
Wrestling (6-3-1): Walpole Wrestling competed in the Marshfield Tournament on December 27. The team tied for 20th out of 33 teams, with no athlete securing a medal. The Rebels also participated in a quad meet on January 3, beating Marlborough, Worcester Tech, and Shepherd Hill, while losing by only a few points to Hopkinton.
Gymnastics (0-1): Walpole Gymnastics lost their first meet of the season to Framingham, 126.8-109.6. Although the team has been limited by injuries, they will compete for their first victory of the season in their second match on January 6.
