Billie Eilish Announces New Album “Happier Than Ever”

19-year-old Grammy winning artist Billie Eilish announced a new album on social media on April 27 following an Apple TV documentary about her. The album titled “Happier Than Ever” features 16 tracks so far and will be released July 30, which happens to be her brother and songwriting partner’s birthday. A new single and music video was also released Thursday, April 29.

“This is my favorite thing I’ve ever created and I am so excited and nervous and EAGER for you to hear it. I can’t even tell you. I’ve never felt so much love for a project than I do for this one. Hope you feel what I feel,” Eilish said on a recent Instagram post.

Eilish first gained fame in 2016 with her song “Ocean Eyes” and continued her journey to stardom with her EP “don’t smile at me,” which included popular songs “COPYCAT” and “party favor.” Her latest album, “WHEN WE FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?” won her six grammys including “Best New Artist” and “Album of the Year.” Her brother Finneas helps her write and produce all her songs and won a Grammy himself for “Producer of the Year.”

“We poured our entire hearts into this body of work and I couldn’t be more excited for it to be yours,” Finneas said on an Instagram post.

A recent Apple TV documentary allowed viewers an intimate view into Eilish’s life on tour, at home and in between. Candid conversations between her and family members were showcased and fans were able to gain a deeper insight into her songwriting process as well as her personality as a whole. In the past, Eilish has been praised for singing about topics such as addiction, depression and anxiety, and in the documentary, she talked freely about the way that those issues have impacted her. Fans love Eilish’s emotional vulnerability within her music and the documentary really portrayed her as what she is: a teenager who happens to be famous. The film spans from the tour after her first EP up to winning Grammys for her latest album, which allows viewers to gain intimate access into a year of her life as a 17-year-old. She is honest to herself and her fans and fans are hoping to get more of the emotional lyrics Eilish became focused on in the past.

During the “WHEN WE FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?” era, Eilish was known for her dyed black hair with highlighter green roots; however, recent photos on instagram show Billie with a blond look with curtain bangs. Not only is the change a major difference from her previous hairstyles, in a way it captures a more mature side of Eilish that fans may see as she gets older and produces more albums.

The new era of “Happier than Ever” was ushered in with a music video and new single “Your Power” which features Eilish in a sort of desert being slowly strangled by a snake. Eilish has been known for putting a tarantula in her mouth in the past, so the snake is not a surprise to fans. The song itself, to no surprise, features emotionally vulnerable lyrics as well as acoustic accompaniment.
