Over the past couple years, Crumbl Cookies have been incredibly popular, gaining significant attention over social media. Consumers are drawn in by the fact that they are made in store, change flavors every week and are simply delicious, but are they worth it?
2023 was Crumbl’s apex of popularity, with millions of views on their social media posts and lines out the doors. Crumbl Cookies sells over 1 million cookies in 1,000 locations every day, has created 30,000 jobs for the workforce and has 16 million followers across all platforms. Social media has definitely boosted the company into billions of profits, but the cookies seem to be the star of the show.
Lately some people have been unhappy with Crumbl, with people arguing about some controversies floating around the internet, especially some lawsuits like claims of copyright infringement, data privacy violations, trademark infringement and child labor laws .
In 2017, co-founders Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley created Crumbl Cookie in a small shop in Logan, Utah. Their focus was to perfect their cookies in an open-concept kitchen and, soon enough, Crumbl Cookie went viral on social media for their large portions and intriguing flavors.
However, while many love Crumbl Cookies, some people find them overrated due to their high calorie count, perceived lack of taste and high price point.
“I don’t think that they’re really worth the money or calories, like they’re good but definitely overhyped,” WHS student Alice Beverly said.
While the cookies are known for their large portion sizes and different flavor variations, the prices range from one cookie costing $4.99 all the way up to a twelve-pack costing a whopping $33.99. Additionally, the calories for a single cookie ranges from 500 to 1500 calories, while the daily average for calories is around 2000 calories, making them really not worth it.
“When I tried it, it wasn’t the best. I think they are definitely overhyped, not as much now, I feel like people have calmed it down a bit but in like 2023 they were way overhyped,” WHS student Lola Cosgro said.
While Crumbl Cookie is very popular it is way too overhyped. People on the internet seem to enjoy them but when people in real life are asked they seem to not agree. The cookies are expensive, unhealthy and could be disliking to your taste resulting in an overall unenjoyable experience.
