The 77th annual Emmy awards took place on Sept. 14 2025, and was held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. 26 awards were received and broadcast on television. These awards included Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead Actor in a Drama series, and Lead Actress in a limited or anthology series or movie.
Each year the Television Academy and the Network Broadcasting select a new host for each year’s award ceremony. This year, one host was selected to walk the audience through the awards and introduce nominees and presenters up to the stage was Nate Bargataze. Baragtaze is a famous American comedian who started to gain popularity in 2010 and has continued trending throughout the years. Some of Baragatze’s achievements were that he was the highest-grossing comic of 2024, he has his own Netflix specials, he received a Grammy awards in 2021 for Best Comedy Album and so much more.
Severance, a popular show that came out with its second season this year. Severance had the most nominations this year with 27 nominations; however, the show with the most wins was Adolescence with eight wins, one of them included the youngest male winner for any event.
Adolescence was a British film about Jamie Miller who is arrested for murdering a schoolmate. The mystery is enhanced by the filming style of the show and was filmed with no cuts, meaning each episode was filmed in one shot. 15-year-old Owen Cooper, who played the character Jamie Miller. Cooper became the youngest male winner of an Emmy ever when he received the award for outstanding supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie.
“I was nothing about three years ago. I’m here now so I think if you’re listening and you’re focusing, you step out of your comfort zone just a little bit. Who cares if you get embarrassed,” Cooper said during his Emmy acceptance speech.

Lead actors and actresses that won were, was Stephen Graham for Lead actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, “Adolescence,” Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie was Cristin Milioti, “The Penguin,” Lead Actress in a Drama Series was Britt Lower, “Severance,” Lead Actress in a Comedy Series was Jean Smart, “Hacks,” Lead Actor in a Comedy Series was Seth Rogen, “The Studio” and Lead Actress in a Comedy Series was Jean Smart, “Hacks.” There were also six awards presented for outstanding supporting actors and actresses.
This year’s Emmys welcomed the most viewers since 2021 hitting 7.4 million views on CBS and live streams on Paramount+.
