The MilkShake Factory opened its very first Massachusetts-based store on Feb. 26, 2026 in Walpole Mall. The store replaced the GameStop, which closed in 2024, and the MilkShake Factory is expected to have a lot of customers.
The MilkShake Factory originally became popular when Greek immigrants, Charlie and Orania Sarandou, opened their first store in Pittsburgh. The store is known for its housemade, hand-spun milkshakes that are available in 40 different flavors. The milkshakes have many dietary options, such as dairy free, on their specialty items menu.
“Our team in Walpole is serving up handspun milkshakes made with homemade ice cream alongside our legacy gourmet chocolate,” the Sarandou’s said.
The MilkShake Factory will offer a unique look as it is only the third store to open in all of New England. The grand opening is set to take place in late March and the store will have a specialty offer where customers have a chance of winning free milkshakes for a year if they enter their name in the raffle. The opening is set to have news stations that will cover the event.
“Our fourth-generation business is built on a legacy of quality. Our family has always insisted on using only the finest ingredients mixed with imagination and passion. You can taste the difference,” co-owner, Dana Manatos said.
Since Charlie and Orania Sarandou’s children took over the business, they have worked together to keep the legacy of the company intact. The MilkShake Factory has expressed their hopes for a local milkshake store that everyone can enjoy. The new location is aiming for a spot that people can treat as a local coffee shop: coming into the shop and socializing. The area that the store will be in is suitable for people to walk to when they are done shopping.
MilkShake Factory is expanding across the United States. The company plans on building stores where traffic is busy. The Walpole Mall will see another food company officially open its doors to the public. The opening will also bring new job opportunities.
