On Feb. 20, 2025, country artist Megan Moroney released her third album, “Cloud 9.” Moroney emerged as a rising country star in 2022 with the success of her breakout single “Tennessee Orange.” The new album consists of 15 songs featuring two singles: “6 Months Later” and “Beautiful Things.” Moroney launched the “Cloud 9” era with the release of “6 Months Later” on June 20, 2025. This album features creative collaborations with Ed Sheeran and Kacey Musgraves. Along with the album’s release, Moroney is set to begin a tour starting on March 10, 2026.
In the past, Moroney headlined the “Pistol Made of Roses Tour” in 2023, “The Lucky Tour” in 2023, “The Lucky 2.0” tour in 2024 and the “Am I Okay? Tour” in 2025. The “Cloud 9 Tour,” consisting of 49 shows, starts in Houston and is set to end in Nashville, Tenn. Additionally, prior to the tour starting, Moroney has been doing nine concerts with tickets selling for $9 the day of the concert. These nine concerts have been taking place in Scottsdale, Ariz., Salt Lake City, Denver, Kansas City, Mo., Newport, Ky., Nashville, Athens, Ga., Richmond, Va. and New York.
Fan favorite tracks from the album include “Who Hurt You?,” “Liars & Tigers & Bears” and “6 Months Later.” “Who Hurt You” is a breakup song about a former partner, rumored to be Riley Green, which emphasizes picking yourself up after a toxic relationship. Moroney’s song highlights how she is over her previous partner, but not over how poorly she was treated.
“I guess I should’ve known I’d be out here all alone in the mess you made, it was all just fake…And I’ll move on and I’ll find better but you’ll stay the same forever”
The track’s lyrics demonstrate strength, power and rage through her powerful vocals and a driving beat.
Moroney was thrilled for fans to hear the collaborations on this album. Since Moroney was a child, she has looked up to Musgraves; when she found out Musgraves sang more verses than expected, she felt emotional.
“There were two versions, one without her singing the second verse and then with the second verse and I didn’t even listen to the first one they sent without her… and then I cried. It’s like a dream come true,” Moroney said
The new “Cloud 9” album has received widespread praise from fans and critics alike. The album marks a shift from older genres while showcasing greater confidence and still exploring themes like heartbreak and healing. Moroney’s relatable lyrics help listeners feel a strong connection towards her music. With unforgettable storytelling and memorable beats, “Cloud 9” signifies a shift in Moroney’s past music writing, establishing her to emerge as a star in country music.
