Zara Larsson is one of pop music’s biggest stars right now; although, she has been releasing popular music since 2015. Her career has recently skyrocketed, but it wasn’t always this way.
Larsson has released five studio albums since 2015 and many singles that likely have been played on the radio: “Ruin My Life,” “Never Forget You” and “Lush Life.” These songs were all released in the early 2010s, so they are rarely played on radio stations anymore. After these singles’ lost their traction, Larsson did not receive many streams on her later work. However, her latest album, “Midnight Sun,” has just begun an enormous new chapter for Larsson’s career.
In the fall of 2025, Larsson was an opening act for global superstar, Tate McRae. Videos of Larsson’s performances on McRae’s tour began circulating online, with some even saying Larsson was a better performer than McRae. Specifically, the album’s lead single, “Midnight Sun,” received an extreme amount of support online, as Larsson sings impressive belts and incredible high notes. Additionally, many praised the intense choreography that Larsson and back-up dancers executed each night of the tour.
Shortly after, Larsson embarked on her own tour, with shows across the world, beginning in Germany in Oct. 2025. The “Midnight Sun Tour” has now made its way overseas, with a show in Boston being held on Mar. 28 at Citizens House of Blues. The show is completely sold out, with resale tickets being sold for over $300 each.
As for the “Midnight Sun” album, it performed better than most of her projects in the past, but still was not numbers of a major pop star. On its first day, the album received approximately 3.87 million streams. While the project’s start was strong, it is still behind her highest debut, “So Good,” released in 2017 and earned 9.45 million streams on its first day. The album’s streams declined until McRae’s tour began.
In addition to “Midnight Sun,” Larsson has been working on a deluxe version of the album and has collaborated with other artists, the most well-known track being “Stateside” with PinkPantheress. The track is a remixed version of the track from PinkPantheress’s 2025 EP, “Fancy That,” released with the deluxe version of the EP, titled “Fancy Some More?” The track’s popularity mostly stemmed from TikTok videos going viral with intense choreography to the song. The track became even more popular when American figure skater Alyssa Liu won a gold medal with her routine to the song. Edits from fans of Liu began being posted to the song, and many began to attempt the choreography afterward. The track is currently at No. 2 on the Global Spotify charts, following the release of Harry Styles’s release of “American Girls,” which is currently at No. 1.
Throughout her career, Larsson has continued releasing music, even through lackluster streaming numbers. Now that she is finally relevant to the public eye, many have been influenced by her reappearance to the public eye and her stardom has likely only just begun.
