DIY Holiday Snack Recipes: Halloween Edition

Holiday seasons are the ideal time for creating new recipes to share with those around you and cooking or eating seasonally inspired snacks is a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Below is an array of easy yet delicious Halloween inspired treats that even the most inexperienced of cooks can create. Great for holiday get-togethers with either friends or family these snacks are easy to prepare and fun to make!

S’mores Granny Smith Apples

Ingredients You Will Need;

  • 5-6 Green Granny Smith Apples
  • 2 ½ tbsp unsalted Butter
  • 12 oz. chocolate chips
  • 1 bag large marshmallows
  • Graham Crackers
  • Skewers


  1. Wash, De-Stem, skewer the apples, and pat dry.
  2. Melt butter in a pan over low heat and then add marshmallows, stir until melted, remove from heat.
  3. Dip apples into melted marshmallows and set on parchment paper about an inch apart. Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or until chocolate is solid
  4. On low heat melt chocolate chips and stir until smooth and completely melted, remove from heat.
  5. Crush up graham crackers and place on a plate
  6. Dip apples two thirds of the way up into the melted chocolate
  7. Roll the bottom of the apple in the graham crackers so they stick to the chocolate one third of the way up

Slimy Green Popcorn Blobs:

Ingredients You Will Need:

  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Green Food Coloring
  • Yellow Food Coloring
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows or 12 large
  • Bag of popped popcorn
  • 2 teaspoon Corn Syrup


  1. Melt Marshmallows and butter in saucepan over low heat. Stir gently until melted,
  2. When completely melted add brown sugar, corn syrup and vanilla extract. Stir
  3. Add green and yellow food dye to get the desired color
  4. Pour green mixture on top of the popped popcorn and mix until evenly coated
  5. Mold the popcorn into “blobs” or desired shape, place on parchment paper and chill about 30 minutes.
  6. Enjoy!

White Chocolate Candy Corn Waffle Cones

Ingredients You Will Need:

  • Bag of orange colored white chocolate
  • Bag of yellow colored white chocolate
  • Bag of white chocolate
  • Box of waffle cones
  • Candy Corn/ Candy of choice


  1. Melt orange chocolate either in a large bowl in the microwave or in a saucepan over low heat, stir until completely melted.
  2. Dip the cones ⅔ of the way up in the orange chocolate
  3. Melt the yellow chocolate. Dip the cone in yellow ⅓ of the way up
  4. Dip the tip of the cone in the white chocolate
  5. Let chill in the refrigerator for 40 minutes or until chocolate is solid
  6. Fill with candy corn, candy of choice or Slimy Green Popcorn Blobs

Ghost Candy Apples

Ingredients You Will Need:

  • 6 Granny Smith or Pink Lady Apples
  • 10 oz white chocolate
  • 1 bag shredded sweetened coconut


  1. Wash, dry, de-stem and skewer the apples
  2. Melt white chocolate on low-heat and stir gently until melted completely
  3. Place coconut into bowl
  4. Dip apples into chocolate and immediately roll the apple into the coconut so it sticks
  5. Place apples onto parchment paper and let chill in the refrigerator for 40 minutes or until chocolate is hardened
