In recent years, Instagram has evolved from a casual photo sharing app into a curated platform where aesthetics take the center stage. Many have begun to focus more on what their feeds look like or how all of their posts tie together instead of using it as an outlet to share one’s life. With the summer months approaching, many are trying to figure out how to adapt their feeds for the season.
One way to update your feed for the summer is to make all cover slides on your posts incorporate a certain color. Most people have clicked on someone’s profile and seen similar colors and shades that look aesthetically pleasing together. To achieve this, each cover picture could include summer colors like blues, pinks and yellows. For a blue theme, posting a picture with the front cover showing a lot of the sky and your next post feature the ocean, so each post looks cohesive with a similar color scheme.
Another way to adapt your feed is to make archive posts. An archive post is when you post a picture, and right when you upload it, archive it. Then, a couple weeks later unarchive it so it still shows up on your profile, but does not appear on your followers feeds. The purpose of this is to post a picture that you like but do not want it to show on everyone’s feeds. This way, you can post a picture that ties into your color scheme or general profile theme.
Another way to make your feed more cohesive is to manage what kind of pictures you post. For example, if your most recent post has a cover slide of a solo picture, make your next post’s cover slide a group picture. You could also add in a landscape picture in between to space things out and change things up. Adding in a picture of food also has the same effect. This helps change up and contrast your profile so that your feed is not just the same thing over and over again.
Story highlights can also be made to tie in with your feed. If you have a color scheme, your highlight covers should also follow it. The cover could be a story from the highlight, or a picture not in the highlight that relates to it. The names of your highlights should be simple but descriptive of your highlight, and not too long.
These examples are not the only ways you can adapt your feed for the summer. These concepts can be brought into the other seasons. Making your Instagram feed more cohesive and aesthetically pleasing to the eye for the summer is a fun way to spice up your feed.
